Chocolate Review: M&M's Premiums - Triple Chocolate

First of all, I was completely wrong about the package size. There is maybe three or four times as much candy in this package than a 'normal' package.

Second, by way of explanation, the Triple Chocolate is a core of milk chocolate covered by a layer of white chocolate, which is covered by the a fancy purple-speckled candy shell.

My take: Delicious. The candy shell is not the typical crunchy M&M's shell. When you bite a candy, you hardly notice the shell is there. The white chocolate is pretty mild. You almost have to look for it, but while the flavor doesn't jump right out, it does contribute to the milk chocolate by making it feel super-smooth. The milk chocolate itself tastes like your normal M&M's chocolate. Anyone who has sucked the shell off of a mouthful of 'plain' (I know, Mars™ hates that term ;^) ) will recognize the chocolate flavor. Which isn't bad, mind you, just familiar.

The milk chocolate/white chocolate balance is very good, and the very thin shell doesn't intrude at all. Very tasty.

Personally, I think the price is still high, I can see asking $2, maybe $3 dollars, but certainly not $5. Not without some other selling point like a new recipe or something.

Still yummy, though.

Update

Huh...so milk chocolate + white chocolate != triple chocolate. I completely missed that there was dark chocolate in there, too. I'm not sure how I could differentiate the milk and dark. Visually, there is no distinction, and taste-wise...well, obviously I wasn't blown away by the dark. It would interesting if I had some with and some without the dark...just to see the difference.
