Friendship

Another good post over at Zen Habits today. This one about friendship. Reading the article got me to thinking.

It's been almost a year since we moved out here to Riverton. I spent my whole life in the Kaysville/Layton area...now I'm an hour away. Now, an hour is an hour, it's not like I moved to Florida or anything (heaven forbid!), but in the hectic day-to-day, a two hour round-trip is hard to manage without a plan. So all of my friends that I had from before are now at least a 2-hour commitment. The commitment isn't the problem, it's that fact that it can't be very spontaneous.

The paragraph Make time. Prioritize Relationships. caused a little guilt. I mean, I have good friends that I hadn't seen for months (or years) before we moved, and I still haven't seen them.

On the plus side, I'm finally making new friends and I was pleased to run down the checklist in the article and find that all the criteria has been met.

It's a good read.
